Samantha Adair- DRC Liaison

Disability Resource Center

Samantha Adair is a Coordinator at the DRC. Before joining the DRC, she received a Bachelors degree in Psychology and English from UGA. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Educational Psychology from UGA. Samantha will help you navigate all that the DRC has to offer.

Shannon Bowles- CAPS liaison

Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS)

Dr. Shannon M. Bowles joined the CAPS staff in 2010. Dr. Bowles' areas of interest include student affairs administration, psychotherapy for family of origin concerns, working with college students who identify as LGBTQ, and alcohol and other drug assessment, treatment, and recovery in the college student population. She will help you navigate all the mental health services at UGA.

Katy J. Health Center Liaison

University Health Center

Katy Janousek is the sexual health coordinator and Certified Health Education Specialist. Her areas of specialization include healthy sexual decision making, LGBTQ concerns, contraception education, and issues surrounding the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. Katy will help you navigate your way through health services at UGA.

Kali DeWald

Career Center

Kali DeWald is a Career Consultant within the Career Center. The University of Georgia’s Career Center provides many resources for LGBTQ students including resources on coming out in the workplace, LGBTQ inclusive employers and more. Every student at UGA has a Career Consultant, assigned by academic area, who provides one-on-one assistance with career decision-making, resume writing, job search strategies, etc.

UGA Psychology Clinic

Dr. Justin Lavner is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and an affiliate faculty member in the Institute for Women’s Studies. He teaches courses on the psychology of sexual orientation and on LGBT issues, and conducts research on LGBT families and LGBT mental health. He can help you navigate mental health services at UGA and is a resource for anyone interested in LGBT studies.

UGA Student Athletics

Heather LaBarbera serves as Director of Student Services for the UGA Athletic Association. In her position, Heather is involved in a number of areas including numerous student-athlete events and initiatives, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), community service projects, and with the Student-Athlete Leadership Academy (LEAD). If you have questions about athletics at UGA, Heather can help you.

Michael Husted is the Assistant Director for Competitive Sports at the Ramsey Student Center. In his position, he oversees intramural and club sport programming that provides activities for all students of all experience levels. Wallace (he/him/his) serves as the Interim Director of Multicultural Services and Programs (MSP).Jason is passionate about social justice issues and particularly interested in racial justice work. Jason can assist you in navigating issues around race and, more specifically, the intersection of race and gender identity, gender expression, and/or sexual orientation.
