National Coming Out Day

National Coming Out Day is an internationally-observed human rights day devoted to providing visibility
to and raising awareness of issues that impact the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer,
and questioning communities and their allies. The LGBT Resource Center, in collaboration with our
student organizations, holds a variety of activities on Tate Plaza to celebrate National Coming Out Day.

Check out our Calendar of Events for more information regarding dates, times, & location.

LGBT History Month

The LGBT Resource Center understands and values the critical need to preserve and educate about the
contributions and sacrifices made in our history by members of the LGBTQ community. One way that
the LGBT Resource Center does this is through a variety of displays placed in Tate Student Center in
honor of Black History Month, Womyn's History Month, and LGBT History Month.

Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR)

The Transgender Day of Remembrance, observed every November, is a day set aside to honor the
lives of those who have been killed due to transphobia, sexism, and/or prejudice. Each fall at UGA, the
LGBT Resource Center celebrates TDOR in a way that is educational, raises public awareness of hate
crimes against transgender and gender non-conforming people, honors and celebrates the lives of our
brothers and sisters who might otherwise be forgotten, and provides our allies a chance to step forward
and stand up against transphobia and the violence that results against transgender and gender non-
conforming people. TDOR events sponsored by the LGBT Resource Center include a display on Tate Plaza
as well as a keynote speaker.

Check out our Calendar of Events for more information regarding dates, times, & location.

International Coffee Hour

International Coffee Hour at the University of Georgia is a weekly program sponsored by International
Student Life
that brings UGA students, faculty, staff, and community members together over coffee and international cuisine. Excluding scheduled University breaks, this event occurs every Friday during the
fall and spring semesters from 11:30am until 1:30pm in the Memorial Hall Ballroom. Every year the
LGBT Resource Center hosts one of the coffee hours featuring various queer organizations on campus
as well as a short drag show.

Check out our Calendar of Events for more information regarding dates, times, & location.
